During the Annual Meeting of the Diversity Charter, held in the third week of May — the EU Diversity Month — Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" received its official certificate, along with 17 other responsible companies and organizations, most of which are partners of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
Upon receiving the award, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Stefanova, Vice-Dean for Sustainability, Empowerment, and Engagement, thanked the organizers — the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum and the Center for the Study of Democracy. She shared the practices of the only Bulgarian public university in promoting diversity among students, academic, and administrative staff.
This celebration of respect and solidarity unites all 27 national Charters and their more than 17,000 members. For the first time, the event included a panel discussion and a platform for sharing best practices.
Shell Bulgaria, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Lidl Bulgaria presented their joint project “Building Bridges”, which aims to promote good practices in diversity, equity, and inclusion among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country. Based on a study conducted by the Center for the Study of Democracy, the three companies are making practical resources publicly available via a digital hub to support other businesses beginning their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion journeys. They are also organizing a series of free training sessions on the topic. With the partnership of the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA), the upcoming free trainings under the project will reach an even wider audience of SMEs.
