On May 22, 2025, in Room 315 of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA), the first session of the new educational initiative Financial Academy took place. The initiative aims to enhance the practical knowledge and skills of students and alumni in the field of finance.
The topic of the event – “Audit for Beginners: What Lies Behind Financial Statements?” – attracted significant interest and gathered dozens of participants, including current students and alumni of the Faculty.
Guest speakers at the event were Anna Boteva, Audit Director at PwC Bulgaria, and Maria Nikolova, Faculty alumna and current HR Associate. Anna Boteva delivered an engaging and accessible introduction to the fundamentals of auditing and its role in ensuring transparency and reliability in financial reporting. Through numerous practical examples, she explained how an audit is conducted, the key stages of the process, and the main challenges faced by auditors.
Participants had the opportunity to learn what stands behind an audit report and how it serves as a tool for building trust between businesses, investors, and society. Particularly valuable were the career tips shared with attendees, along with candid answers to questions about real-world work environments and expectations for young professionals.
The event was marked by a vibrant atmosphere of engagement and inspiration. Both students and alumni actively participated in the discussions, showing strong interest and personal motivation for professional development in the financial sector. The presence of both current and former graduates highlighted the strong intergenerational bond and sense of community fostered by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
“Audit for Beginners” laid a strong foundation for the Financial Academy – an initiative organized by the Business Club and the FEBA Alumni Club. Its goal is to give young people access to knowledge that goes beyond academic theory and prepares them for the realities of the business world.
Following this successful launch, the upcoming events in the Academy are eagerly anticipated as they will continue to build practical skills and inspire the next generation of financial leaders.
