Students from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” visited the KBC innovation lab – SurfStudio. The visit took place as part of the course “Organizational Behavior”, which is included in the Bachelor's program “Accounting, Finance and Digital Applications”, and was made possible through the kind hosting of Dr. Kiril Velichkov, Director of the Directorate "European Projects and Financial Instruments" at UBB and Manager of the KBC Group Competence Center for European Financial Instruments.
During their visit, the students learned about leading global trends in finance and banking, as well as the potential applications of Design Thinking principles in various fields. Third-year students in the “Accounting, Finance and Digital Applications” program raised questions related to new challenges facing the banking sector, including digital identity, cryptocurrencies, and artificial intelligence.
SurfStudio is conceived as a platform for innovation sharing and idea exchange within the KBC Group. The lab reflects the philosophy of seeking and implementing innovative practices not only in the bank-insurance domain but also across a broader spectrum of innovations. The hosts shared that the space is equipped with various achievements of modern technology and aims to inspire employees to experiment with different solutions, seek optimal interaction with technological advancements, and apply innovations in their daily work.
The Bachelor's program “Accounting, Finance and Digital Applications” (taught in English) at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration is accredited by the international professional organization The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
