The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” will coordinate a significant international project under the Horizon Europe – Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Framework Programme.

The SINTACT (Social Innovation Methods and Tools for Communities Affected by Transition(s)) project is the first project for scientific networks with the exchange of scientists performing scientific tasks under the Horizon Europe – Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, Staff Exchange program, won by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. The project is also the first in which Sofia University is the coordinator of this activity under the Horizon-Europe program.

The project was initiated by the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA), which is also the coordinator. It brings together partners from eight countries located on three continents – Europe (Bulgaria, the United Kingdom and Romania), Asia (Vietnam, Iraq, Sri Lanka and Japan) and Africa (Morocco).

SINTACT will analyze socio-economic challenges, test new solutions for implementing social innovations in support of communities affected by the energy transition. It will observe the principles of open science by providing the results; the methods and tools used to politicians, businesses and local communities to assist them in making strategic decisions for a more just and inclusive green transition.

The SINTACT project focuses on the risks of increasing social and economic insecurity (including unemployment and energy poverty) faced by the affected regions traditionally relying on industrial sectors and fossil fuels.

It contributes to building the scientific capacity of the Faculty, as well as to its establishment as an international scientific center. The project creates opportunities for sustainable scientific cooperation not only with universities, full participants in the Framework Program, but also with partner universities in Japan, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Morocco, which have associate status.

The project team includes FEBA’s Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, the Leading Researcher (R4) Prof. Dr. Albena Vutsova, and the Vice-Dean for Research, Innovation and Projects, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Todor Yalamov.
