On October 10, 2022, at an official ceremony in the Ministry of Education and Science, the results of two projects funded through UniverCity were presented – a 36-month project funded through FP Erasmus+, which aims to generate new strategic partnerships with local communities and build sustainable regional networks , aimed at future suitability for employment.

The event was opened by Deputy Minister Albena Chavdarova, who emphasized the importance of the development of projects implemented within the framework of international partnerships in the field of education and science. She expressed her satisfaction with the work of the UniverCity project team, which managed to motivate young scientists and researchers from various fields to apply with their ideas. In the project team from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” are Prof. Dr. Albena Vutsova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Todor Yalamov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Angelov.

Prof. Albena Vutsova presented the main goals of the project and reported some of the achieved results, which on the one hand guarantee its sustainability, and on the other – demonstrate the practical-applied nature of the activities.

According to the work program of the project, the pilot competition for the provision of small research grants that solve a specific problem of local authorities has been completed. The pilot competition is organized according to all the rules of impartiality and transparency. 6 projects implemented by teams of young scientists and students were ranked. The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration received financial support for three small innovative grants. At the official ceremony, two of the winners of the so-called small grant projects – “Challenges before foreign students in Bulgaria” by Rutiyana Ngundo, PhD student at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, and by Prof. Dr. Vladimir Bozhilov from the Department of Astronomy of the Faculty of Physics of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

Partner countries in the UniverCity project are Bulgaria, Italy and Romania. A second edition of the research competition is coming up.
