On June 14, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and Director of the Master's Program "Energy Markets and Services", delivered a guest lecture to the academic community of Ilia State University in Tbilisi, Georgia. The topic of the lecture was "EU Energy Security and Challenges During the Ongoing War", and the visit took place within the framework of the concluded Erasmus+ partnership between Ilia State University and Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

In his lecture, Assoc. Prof. Georgiev presented up-to-date information on European energy and climate policy, commented on the effects of the war in Ukraine on the security of supplies for the European Union and gave examples from the transformation of the electricity and gas industry in Bulgaria in the context of the upcoming launch of a "day ahead” market on the Georgian electricity exchange from July 1, 2023.

The hosts of the meeting and the visit were Giorgi Mukhigulishvili and Prof. Murman Margvelashvili, who are developing a master's program for the energy industry in Georgia, as well as the World Experience for Georgia think tank. At the beginning of June, Giorgi Mukigulishvili visited the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in Sofia within the framework of the same partnership and gave guest lectures to the students from the MA program "Energy Markets and Services".

During his visit to Tbilisi, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev also held a meeting at the Bulgarian Embassy with H.E. Mr. Vesselin Valkanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria in Georgia, and with Mr. Iliya Nachev (Political Service). During the meeting, they discussed the opportunities for informing Georgian applicants about bachelor's and master's programs in Bulgaria and other topics of common interest.
