On December 1, 2023, a working meeting was held between Paolo Gentiloni, European Commissioner for Economy and former Prime Minister of Italy, and members of the Bugarian Council for Economic Analysеs at the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria. On behalf of the Council, its Secretary Assoc. Prof. Plamen Nenov, Ph.D., economist at the Norwegian Central Bank and lecturer at BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo, Norway, Assoc. Prof. Ralitsa Simeonova-Ganeva, Ph.D., and Assoc. Prof. Kaloyan Ganev, Ph.D., lecturers at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", took part.
The first three analyses prepared by members of the Council, dedicated to the regional economic inequalities, the economic effects of Bulgaria's accession to the Eurozone, and the shortage of medical specialists in the country, were presented. The current economic situation in Bulgaria and in the European Union, the macroeconomic forecasts for 2024, as well as Bulgaria's progress in fulfilling the eurozone membership criteria were also discussed at the meeting.
