ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAM /AFTER COMPLETED SECONDARY EDUCATION/

 

The program aims at offering theoretical knowledge and practical skills through highly qualified teaching combined with opportunity to exercise it in practice in the most modern preclinical and clinical medical complexes in Bulgaria.

The training course in Medicine is conducted on the basis of a curriculum which is made according to the Unified state requirements for the master’s degree in the specialty ‘Doctor of Medicine’’ and the qualification of a General Practitioner.

The curriculum also satisfies the regulations of the Directive 93/16/EEC of April, 5 1993.

The study course duration is 6 years (12 semesters).

A combined written admission exam has to be passed, consisting of two components – a test in Chemistry, and a test in Biology. The examination is carried out in English.

The topics of Chemistry and Biology cover the material taught in secondary school. The duration of the admission exam is four astronomic hours. Only applicants who have passed both components of the exam are eligible for ranking. The components of the exam contribute to the final grade as follows: 50% Chemistry, 50% Biology. The applicants can sit for the entrance exam – test in Chemistry and Biology in English language once or twice (optional) and they will be ranked on the basis of their results. Ranking is done in descending order of the grade from the admission exam. For applicants who have passed the exam on the two dates, the higher grade is considered for ranking.

The first 50 candidates from the ranking list will be admitted.

 

The Medical faculty of SU organizes two short-term preparatory courses in Chemistry and Biology:

September, 3 – September, 4 2018 /2 days/ – the fee is 300 BGN

September, 10 – September, 11 2018 /2 days/ – the fee is 300 BGN

The course will take place at the administrative building of the Medical faculty, 1407 Sofia, 1 Kozyak Str.

Registration (the same address): by September, 03 2018 – 8.30 h. / September, 10 – 8.30 h.

The tuition fee for the preparation course is to be paid in cash at the accountancy office of the Medical faculty, 1407 Sofia, 1 Kozyak Str., prior to the registration date.

APPLICATION DOCUMENTS:

 

1. APPLICATION FORM – filled in and signed by the applicant.

2. A legalized copy of the applicant’s Diploma for completed secondary education and its Supplement /if any/ that specifies the period of attendance and the grades /including the grades in Chemistry and Biology/ – apostilled by the authorities in the country of the origin of the document/s/ and officially translated into Bulgarian by a certified agency.

3. A document issued by a competent body certifying the applicant’s eligibility to continue his/her studies in Medicine /or related majors/ at the institutions of higher educational in the country in which the applicant has completed his/her secondary education – apostilled by the authorities in the country of the origin of the document/s/ and officially translated into Bulgarian by a certified agency.

4. The ORIGINAL Diploma for completed secondary education and its Supplement /if any/ that specifies the period of attendance and the grades /including the grades in Chemistry and Biology/ have to be presented by the applicants themselves /after their arrival/ at the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science for a recognition procedure. After recognizing the diploma the Ministry issues a CERTIFICATE for a completed secondary education with the grades in different subjects evaluated according to the Bulgarian system of grades

5. A medical certificate – issued no earlier than a month before – apostilled by the authorities in the country of the origin of the document and officially translated into Bulgarian by a certified agency

6. A photocopy of the applicant’s ID document with a photograph and a full name legibly written in the Latin alphabet and indicating the place and date of birth

7. 4 recent photographs of the applicant (passport format)

NOTE: If the applicant does NOT pass the required test in Chemistry and Biology successfully or in the case s/he is not able to sit for the entrance exam, s/he may be enrolled in a 9-month specialized introductory course at the SU Department of Language Teaching.
