Teaching at the Faculty of Education conforms to the requirements of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and offers, under certain conditions, opportunities for the exchange of students between universities within the European Union.

The basic requirement under ECTS is that students should collect a minimum of 30 credits per semester (60 credits per academic year).

To be awarded a Bachelor’s degree, students should collect a minimum of 240 credits.

Students following this programme receive basic and specialized knowledge, as well as practical and applied training within the areas of social work with children and adults, including ones from disadvantaged social groups (those with a criminal record, with asocial and antisocial behaviour, the aged, people from ethnic minorities, etc.). Students also acquire knowledge and skills within the areas of psychology, sociology, ethics, law, medicine and hygiene, organization and administration. Graduates of this Major are awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, which enables them to find employment as:

  • specialists in social care (job centres, social care services, residential homes for children and adolescents with/without on-site school, shelters for children and adults in need of social care)

  • social workers in the specialized institutions caring for disadvantaged children and children with asocial and antisocial behaviour; social workers in industrial and business environments;

  • social workers in the health care system (home care, care in hospitals and institutions for people with alcohol, drug and other types of addiction), the police and other institutions for the prevention of and fight against crime (young offenders counselling and prevention centres, prisons and children’s penitentiaries, secure children’s homes and boarding schools, NGOs working in the area of children and adult social care).
