"What do I know about Antarctica"

Awarding the winners of the picture and essay competition on "What I know about Antarctica", organized by the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute with the support of the educational portal Academica BG, took place on 20th March, 2012 in Hall 1.

The competition was dedicated to the 20th Jubilee Antarctic Expedition of Bulgaria. The goal was to provoke children's interest in the Ice Continent and to provide information about the Bulgarian contribution in its exploration.

The competition was in two categories: pictures (up to 8th grade) and essays (8th to 12th grade). The pictures were assessed by a jury, chaired by Mr. Ilian Zafirov, Executive Director and Member of the Board of Managers of the Corporate Commercial Bank, sponsor of the event. Members of the jury were Prof. Hristo Pimpirev, Chair of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, and Evelina Gecheva, Manager of Academica BG.

The essays were assess by a jury, chaired by Prof. Biolchev, and members Prof. Hristo Pimpirev and Vyara Petrova, editor in the educational portal.

Second place for Miroslava Karaivanova, Plovdiv

Third place for Aisen Sapundzhi, Yakoruda

Special award - Maria Garalova, Pazardzhik

Picture

First place for Elitza Ganeva, 8-year-old, Sofia

Second place for Kristian Zahariev, Samokov

Third place for Stefan Stefanov, Turgoviste

Special award - Pavel Neshev, Sopot

All pictures will be exhibited on 18.05.2012 in the National Museum of History
