8 Faculties and Departments of Sofia University started projects supported by OP "Human Resources Development", co-funded by the European Social Fund, under the initiative "Development of electronic forms for distance learning in the system of higher education":

• Faculty of History
• Faculty of Economics and Business Administration
• Faculty of Education
• Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics
• Faculty of Slavic Studies
• Faculty of Philosophy

The total amount of funding is BGN 4 871 671,17, duration of the projects varies from 12 to 24 months.

Programmes for distance learning with electronic means will be developed for both Bachelor and Master Degree levels. Accreditation procedures will be initiated.

Courses and materials will be piloted as well, with at least 1500 students of FMI, 1400 of the Faculty of Philosophy, etc. The Faculty of Education will train 90 lecturers of Sofia University who teach teachers for the primary and secondary education. Workshops and seminars on sharing good practices are planned, as well as evaluation and certifying of the courses and materials by Eprobate. Thus the impact of the projects will extend towards primary and secondary education, and will guarantee the quality of education.
