Truth is not a prepared product

Coordinator: Assoc. Prof. Albena Taneva

Discussion about the fate of the Jews in Bulgaria started in Hall 1 minutes ago.

The event was officially opened on behalf of the host, Sofia University, by Prof. Roumen Pakov, Vice-Rector. Prof. Pankov noted that the conference was organized in the University because what is admired here is the chance to find the truth via discussion rather than the men of the minute or fashionable tendencies.

The focus of the debate was introduced by the moderator Toni Nikolov, a journalist and philosopher. Not only were the values of a whole epoch questioned, but also the whole European civilization. The world has kept asking the questions: How was it was possible? and Who was guilty for the killing of 6 million Jews? Toni Nikolov stressed on the discussion topic, which was by itself an attempt to present the theme with maximum correctness, more specifically "the fate of the Jews in Bulgaria" and not the fate of the Bulgarian Jews or their salvation. The debates on the topic has been going on. The scientists will be discussing the questionable and the unquestionable as the anniversaries are a reason for asking questions rather than accepting prepared answers.

The event will be digitalized, and the talks will be published in proceedings.

The forum is organized by the Centre for Jewish Studies with the Faculty of Philosophy, Sofia University, and is supported by the Communication Strategy of Bulgaria.
