Ambassadors, politicians, the media, lecturers and students gathered in the Aula on the National Holiday to hear the lecture by Prof. Jezi Buzek, the Chairman of the European Parliament.
The lecture was entitled "Europe and freedom". Prof. Popivanov, the Vice-Rector, noted that the visit was a traditional one as other Chairpersons of the European Parliament had visited the University. The Chairperson of the National Assembly Mrs Tsetska Tsacheva thanked Prof. Buzek for his initiative to work towards union of the old and the new members of the EU.
Prof Buzek addressed the students with the concept of justice as the freedom is the responsibility of others' freedom as well, according to his words. He also noted that the solution is in investing more money in education, research and innovation.
