The Traditional and the Modern in the Indian Culture, Indian Studies and Teaching about India

On 25th September, Sofia University hosted the international conference "The Traditional and the Modern in the Indian Culture, Indian Studies and Teaching about India" organized with the support of the Indian Embassy in Sofia.

The conference is held annually in different parts of the world. This year Sofia University is the host in honour of the 25th anniversary of the speciality "Indian Studies", one of the oldest schools in the field.

Dr Galina Ruseva-Sokolova, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, opened the event. The Vice-Rector Prof. Nedyu Popivanov addressed the participants.

The conference treats the foundation of the ancient and contemporary Indian culture, the religion of India, the Indian studies, the traditional and contemporary viewpoint on the place of the woman in India, the language and music of India, etc.
