The British Council donated their library to the English and American Studies Library of Sofia University.
The ceremony was attended by the Rector, Prof. Ilchev, Mr. Tony Buckby, British Council Director, Assoc. Prof. Petya Yaneva, Dean of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, Prof. Maya Pencheva, Head of English and American Studies Department.
The donation contains the a greater part of the current collection of the Bristish Council. The approximate value of the donation is £ 137,000 and includes more than 10,000 volumes of contemporary fiction, about 850 CDs with British music and more than 1100 films on DVD.
