The book in the virtual world

A seminar on "The book in the virtual world" took place on 14th December, 2010, in the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication.

The forum organized by the Department Press and Book Publishing of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication was a continuation of the discussion started by the first two seminars "Business Environment and Books" and "Book Publishing and the Media". The discussion is on the scientific and application issues in book publishing, in which participated a wide range of university lecturers, researchers, publishers, representatives of different branch associations and NGOs, as well as state officials. The current discussionwas on the following topics:

  • the changed image of the book in the virtual environment;
  • the integration and mutual impact between the traditional and electronic book;
  • publisher and author issues related to the copyright and dissemination of electronic content and books;
  • transformation of readers' attitudes and practices related to the e-book.

The seminar was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Totka Monova. Some of the participants were Prof. Ani Gergova, Prof. Petranka Fileva, Assoc. Prof. Albert Benbasat (chair of the scientific forum), chief research associate Dr Antoaneta Totomanova, Veselin Todorov (manager of the publishing house Ciela and chait of the Association "Bulgarian Book"), Vasilka Vancheva (manager of publishing house "Emas"), Viktoria Biserova (Manager of publishing house "Enthusiast"), lecturers, researchers, librarians, PhD students, and others.

A collection of the reports and presentations will be issued.
