The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) announced 30th March as the first day on which experiments for collisions with the particle accelerator start.

It is expected these experiments to answer some of the fundamental questions about the mater structure and the space-time. Four experimental complexes are run simultaneously: ATLAS, CMS, ALICE, and LHCB.

Scientists from Sofia University and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences take part in the experiments. A specialized CMS center has been established in the Faculty of Physics, which will be opened on 30th March for the media representatives.

The CMS centre is positioned in laboratory B30 of the B wing of the Faculty of Physics of Sofia University, 5 James Boichier Blvd. Contacts: tel. 8161 410, GSM – 0899258731 - Assoc. Prof. Leander Litov.
