Sofia University students won two prizes at the 15th edition of the National Competition in Programming

The 15th edition of the National Competition in Programming was supported by PC Magazine Bulgaria and Musala Soft and was patronized by the President Georgy Purvanov.

The event gathered the best participants in the competition, who were addressed by business people and academia.

First came Rumen Hristov, student at 10th grade of the Shoumen High School of Science and Mathematics, a member of the Shoumen School of Informatics "А&Б", of the team led by Biserka Yovcheva and Petar Petrov. Next came Georgy Atzev, and third was Alexander Georgiev, both third-year students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics.

The award ceremony was attended by many guests, such as the Rector, Prof. Ilchev, Prof. Soskov, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Acad. Stefan Dodunekov, Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Bojko Letchev, e-Centres, Svetlin Nakov, the founder of the Bulgarian Developers Association, Georgy Brashnarov, Chair of the Board of the Bulgarian Software Association, Ognyan Kiryakov, Director of Microsoft Bulgaria, Assoc. Prof. Daniela Gotzeva, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Computer Systems and Management at the Technical University, Emil Iliev, head of department of Information technologies of Presidency. Elena Marinova -President of Musala Soft and Tervel Nyagolov, Chief Editor of PC Magazine Bulgaria hosted the event, and associate professor Dr. Krasimir Manev- Professor in Faculty of mathematics and Informatics of Sofia University, a coach of the national teams of Informatics was an honourable member of the jury.

In the course of the six extramural rounds, programmers from the whole country have been competing without regardless of age or profession. 12 competitors with the greatest number of points came out to the final. Host of the competition for 4th consecutive year was Bulgarian Korean International Center in NDK, a part of the government project TELEcentres.
