The session was held yesterday, in the Aula of the Faculty of Theology, Sofia University. It was dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth and the 40th anniversary of the passing of the Bulgarian patriarch Cyril.
The ceremony was organized by the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.
The ceremony gathered synodal bishops of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, clergymen, lecturers of the Theology Faculties at Sofia University and the University of Veliko Tarnovo, representatives of the Centre for Slavo-Byzantine Studies “Prof. Ivan Dujčev”, members of the delegation of the Georgian Orthodox Church, led by archbishop Stefan, students, laymen and guests. Other official guests were Mr. Maxim Benvenisti, Chairman of the Shalom Organization of the Jews in Bulgaria, the secretary of the Apostolic Nuncio in Sofia Msgr. Luciano Russo, Dr Zhasmina Donkva, Chief expert at Department of Ecclesiastical Matters, Council of Ministers of Bulgaria.
