Prof. Michael Bar-Zohar delivered a lecture on "Saving Bulgarian Jews" for the students of Sofia University

He visited Alma Mater after an invitation by Prof. Petar Slavejkov, Dean of the Faculty of Geology and Geography.

The Israeli professor is a specialist in the Near East, historian, politician, journalist and writer. He is a biographer of the first Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion and the contemporary President Shimon Peres. Bar-Zohar has worked with leading Israeli politicians.

Bar-Zohar was born in 1938 in Sofia. Ten years later he left for Israel. He graduated Political Sciences in the University of Jerusalem, specialised International Relations in Paris. He was twice a member of the Israeli Parliament, wrote more than 30 documentary and fiction books. He lectures in the universities in Israel, the USA and other countries, and bears the honorary degree Doctor Honoris Causa of Sofia University.
