Round table "The role of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church for the salvation of the Bulgarian Jews during the World War II - a model for religious tolerance and community solidarity" started on 10th September, 2009, at 10:00 in Hall 1

The event was organized by the Center for Jewish Studies at Sofia University, with the support of the trans-university center "Balan" and Communicates Foundation - Holland.

The opening speech was delivered by Prof. Tanev, Director of the Centre for European Studies, followed by an address, delivered by Mr. Jeracy, Chair of the Israeli Clerical Council. The discussions were on three main theses: "Tradition and challenges for the religious tolerance - leadership and institutional responsibility"; "Theological aspects of the religious tolerance"; and "Christian Churches and the faith of the Jews during the World War II - comparative analysis"
