On 19th September, Prof. Predrag Mateich was awarded a Blue Ribbon honorary insignia for his significant contribution to researching on Bulgarian culture.
On 24th September, the Department of Cyril and Methodius Studies hosted a discussion with Prof. Predrag Mateich, Director of Hilandar Research Library and the Scientific Centre for Medieval Slavic Studies, Ohio State University, USA. Prof. Mateich talked about the history of these two institutions, their collaboration with Bulgarian scientists and researchers, as well as the plans for future development. Hilendar Research Library stores and preserves a significant number of micro films of extremely valuable Slavic manuscripts, which are now part of the collection of the Hilandar Monastery and many other book stores around the world. These films have been used by many Bulgarian and foreign scientists. As a result of their research, significant findings have been made in the fields of Bulgarian, Balkan and Slavic cultures. The Centre supports many scientists in their research by providing sources.
