The award is accompanied by BGN 10 000. The scientist was awarded for research with applicability in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food, and petrol industry. They are used as in consumer goods for cosmetics and food.

The event was hosted by the Minister of Education, Youth and Science, Sergey Ignatov, and was attended by ministers and representatives of the Bulgarian Academy of Science, among the guests.
