Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko in Sofia University

The Japanese guests, who are on an official visit to Bulgaria initiated by the President, were welcomed in Sofia University by lecturers and students of Japanese Philology.

Prince Akishino is the younger son in the Emperor's Dynasty, the oldest of the 44 world monarchies. He has degrees in law and biology, he studied at Oxford. His PhD is in ornithology.

The guests were given red Bulgarian roses, and were welcomed by Prof. Popivanov, Vice-Rector, Assoc. Prof. Petya Yaneva, Dean of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, and Assoc. Prof. Bojka Tsigova, the Head of Japanese Studies. The elite speciality attracts a lot of students and the admission exam results to study in it are the highest.

The Rector thanked for the support, which Japan offers to the University, for the highly qualified experts, who work here, as well as for the generous donations of valuable books, which are indispensible for the students.

The meeting ended by a short programme delivered by the students.
