Jean-Philippe Courtois, President of Microsoft International paid an official visit to Sofia University. He discussed on "Opportunities for education and entrepreneurship Microsoft YouthSpark“ with the students in the Aula.
The event was attended by H.E. Marcie Ries, Ambassador of the USA in Bulgaria, Prof. Ilchev, the Rector, George Randelov, Country Manager at Microsoft Bulgaria and Kiril Rusev, co-founder of Nimero and winner in the competition Imagine Cup in Bulgaria.
H.E. Marcie Ries and Mr. Courtois had a meeting with Prof. Ilchev before the start of the event. They discussed the challenges which the global changes pose before the collaboration of education and business. They stated their willingness for such a collaboration in the oldest higher educational institution which also ranks first among the universities in Bulgaria in 22 fields, according to the Ranking System.
Prof. Ilchev opened the event at 10.30 am. His speech focused on the pursuit of e-learning, e-banking, e-government as possible solutions in the contemporary technology oriented context. He also stressed on the relations between the secondary and higher education, in addition to these between the higher education and business.
