One has to be equal to oneself

A protest against extracting shale gas in Bulgaria was held on 14th January. The students' theatre Alma Alter stood for its citizen position in an artistic way characteristic for us and our perception of life.

One has to be true to oneself. That is why a silent bread procession was held by the students of the theatre, from Sofia University to the Parliament. Holding our bread with our frozen hands high above our heads, as a symbol of the old saying that nobody is bigger than the bread. Our bread was badaged as were we, symbolising the threat ahead.

The actors put down the leaves of bread in front of the Parliamen: "Politicians, our bread is at your feet, you decide!"

To what extent Alma Alter's protest influenced the decision-making we do not know. Yet we do know that our protest made impression on our colleagues in New York, who were inspired to do the same during their protest, as reported by Sandra Staingraber, Fracking Abolution spokesperson.
