Ministry of Education, Youth and Science gave the Pythagoras Award to the best Bulgarian scientists

Prof. Nikolay Vitanov and Prof. Dimitar Popov, Sofia University, were awarded at an official ceremony hosted by the Minister Sergey Ignatov on 26th June, 2012.

The prestigious award for established scientist in the field of natural sciences and mathematics was given to Prof. Vitanov, Faculty of Physics, Sofia University. The winner was given a crystal placket and a cheque.

The award for established scientist in the field of social and humanity studies was given to Prof. Dimitar Popov, Faculty of History of Sofia University.

Minister Ignatov greeted the representatives of the academia and the guests, stating that the scientific spirit of Pythagoras still lives, even in times of crisis. 16 scientists were nominated in 7 categories. The winners were chosen by a jury chaired by Acad. Stefan Dodunekov.
