A jubilee scientific conference "With love and care for the language", dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Acad. Aleksandar Teodorov-Balan: the first Rector of Sofia University and founder of the University Library, opened today
In her address to the conference, the Vice-Rector Shishyova noted that Acad. Balan had a profound impact on the Bulgarian science. He was well known for his strife towards pure Bulgarian language, and he invented many of the widely used words today.
Interesting pepers will be presented by Prof. Vasilka Radeva, Prof. Boris Parashkevov, and many others.
The conference was organized by the Faculty of Slavic Studies, the Institute for Bulgarian Language of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, under the iniciative of the journals "Bulgarian Language" and "Bulgarian Speech".
