Joined Genome Centre in the Faculty of Biology is opened

Joined Genome Centre in the Faculty of Biology was opened today on the basis of public-private partnership between Sofia University, Agricultural Academy, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

The contemporary high technology centre is located in the Faculty of Biology building and is unique for the Balkan peninsula.

It was supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and aims at enhancing the Bulgarian bio-economy competitiveness by partnership between the private and state enterprise. It will also work with universities, scientific organisations, the state, and the business in the field of agriculture.

The opening was attended by the Rector Prof. Ivan Ilchev, the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Mr. Valerij Tsvetanov, the Director of the Agro-bio-institute at the Agricultural Academy, Dr. Rositsa Bachvarova, the Dean of the Faculty of Biology, Assoc. Prof. Borislav Galutsov, lecturers and scientists.

The guests were addressed by the childrens' choir of the Bulgarian National Radio.
