Japanese policy in fighting the climatic changes

An open lecture on "Japanese building industry experience in saving energy against the global warming".

The event is organized by Sofia University and the Japanese Embassy. Guest lecturer was Mr. Satoshi Takakusa - executive vice president of JFC. Mr. Takakusa made an overview of the actions and policies which Japan had taken against the climatic changes.

As a key measure was mentioned the energy saving of the buildings, the program “Top-runner” for groups of consumer goods with high class of energy saving such as refrigerators, TV sets, etc.

The main goals which Japan sets up to 2030 are to increase the share of the nuclear and water power plants from 40 to 70%; by 2050 to decrease the greenhouse gases by 50 %.

As a result of its policy Japan has decreased the emissions of CO2 by 50% since 1970.
