Prof. Georgi Germanov was among the scientists to determine the development of the Russian and Slavic studies in Bulgaria for decades. His life and work was connected with Sofia University. He graduated from the first year of specialty Russian Philology (1946 -1950), then he gave lectures until the end of 20th c. He was Dean of the Faculty from 1978 to 1983, and Head of Department from 1980 to 1989, he received a number of prestigeous state and academic awards. He published 9 books dedicated to Russian classic literature and Bulgarian- Russian cultural relations.

Prof. Germanov was a faithful counselor and supervisor. We will remember the full halls, his kindness, academic attitude and inspired speech.
