Faculty of Slavic studies with deep regret announces the death of Prof. Iskra Angelova Likomanova on 6th July, 2011

Professor Iskra Likomanova graduated in Slavic Studies, specializing in Polish and Serbo-Croatian languages in the faculty of Slavic Studies, Sofia University (1979) and a doctorate in comparative grammar of the Slavic languages in Krakow (1983). From 1983 to 1997 she worked for the Institute for Bulgarian Language, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, University of Turnovo and University of Shoumen. She was an associate professor at Sofia University since 1997, since 2006 she was a doctor habititate and since 2007 - a professor. She specialized and lead lectures in Belgrade, Warsaw, Krakow, Dresden, Erlangen, Potsdam, Marbourg, Graz, Oxford and Rome. She was a leader of the MA programme "Translation and Edition" and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Slavic Studies.

Prof. Likomanova is the author of more than 200 publications in renowned Bulgarian and foreign journals, as well as 4 monographs; she took part in many international congresses and conferences, she led and participated in a number of scientific projects.

The Faculty of Slavic Studies will remember her as an involving lecturer, expert in the scientific field, excellent manager and inspired researcher of the live Slavic speech, of the historic and translation relations between the Slavic languages, as one of the bright figures of the Bulgarian and Slavic Studies.
