Sofia University "St Kliment Ohridski" with deep regret announces the death of Prof. Rumiana Tzvetanova Pavlova on 29th June, 2011.

Prof. Rumiana Pavlova was born on 8th May, 1933. She graduated in Philology at Sofia University, then she completed her doctorate at the Institute of Slavic Studies, Academy of Sciences of Russia in 1970. Her whole life was devoted to Alma Mater, as a lecturer - since 1963, as an associate professor since 1975, professor since 1981, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Slavic Studies from 1976 to 1978.

Prof. Pavlova was leading the section of Russian language of the Institute of Russian language and literature in Sofie from 1977 to 1981, head of the lingual-didactic laboratory for studying old Bulgarian texts, Sofia University, between 1981 and 1991. She was awarded with number of international insignia, such as "St Cyril and St. Methodius" Medal, First Degree (1983), "St Cyril and St. Methodius" Award, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, 1996, Honorary Blue Ribbon of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" (2003).

Her presence and devotion will be example for her colleagues at Sofia University and she will be remembered with deep respect.
