How has folklore changed?

Prof. Stefano Aloe opened a lecture on Russian folklore and culture on 5th March, 2012 in the Conference Hall.

Prof. Aloe is a lecturer at University of Verona and an executive secretary of the International Society "Dostoevski", founded in December, 2011 in Hall 1 of Sofia University.
In his lecture, he presented how the elite Russian culture is interwoven with folklore and how the new times changes the perspective of folklore traditions as a whole. Culture and history are subject to idealisation, traditional melodies are transformed, gaining new forms.
There is no going back to folklore in the time of Romantism. The mass art takes over tradition. In order to preserve folklore, it was canonized. Prof. Aloe gave examples with the works by Pushkin, who makes a folklore mixture. According to the critics, Nikolaj Korsakov creates the "language"of Russian music, on the basis of folklore melodies.
