"Happy troubled holiday, colleagues! Long live Bulgaria!"

These were the words of the Academia to begin the celebrations of the Day of the Scholar

Sofia University issued a declaration in which insists:

1. The Government to include financing for higher education and science according to the EU standards for the budget of 2011;

2. The Government to define adequate state subsidy for allowance per student.

3. The Government to design a national plan for development of the higher education, sciences and technologies.

Prof. Ilchev announced the Academia apprehension that the we may not be able to meet our obligations in regards with the Programme Europe 2000 in which education, sciences and innovations are the main priority. He reminded that the highways which the Premier prioritised are also built thanks to the expertise of engineers, economists, chemists and other specialists graduated from the higher schools. The Rector also said that the lecturers need to meet the standards of the contemporary European higher education.

In conclusion it was said that no one could stop the Academia to express its apprehension about Bulgaria and the ways it chooses. The appeal "Happy troubled holiday, colleagues! Long live Bulgaria!" ended the speech.
