There was official ceremony in the Aula, which took place on 18th December, 2008. On it the Grand Literature Award of Sofia University was given to the writer Boyan Biolchev.
The Grand Literature Award has been given annually since 1999. The awarded are: Vera Mutafchieva, Boris Christov, Jordan Radichkov, Ivajlo Petrov, Konstanin Pavlov, Anton Donchev, Valeri Petrov, Georgi Mishev, and Doncho Tsonchev.
