From sound to word

The last book written by Assoc. prof. Yulia Stoyanova "Early language development (From first sound sequences to multi-word expressions)" was presented on 23rd February, 2012 in the Conference Hall of Sofia University.

The book was presented by Prof. Encho Gerganov, who introduced it as "the highest peak reached so far" in Assoc. prof. Stoyanova's work and wished further achievements to her. Prof. Stoyanova is a lecturerd in the Department of Bulgarian Language of the Faculty of Slavic Studies, Sofia University.

The book deals with the early language development in children between the age of 1 and 3 years old. The process of acquiring sounds, syllabuses, one-syllable words and longer words is researched. Assoc. prof. Stoyanova pays special attention to how the child expresses negation. The author also makes a comparative analysis on similar research by renowned scientists from the USA, however, the focus of the book in on Bulgarian language acquisition.

Prof. Gerganov announced the results of the research as extremely important not only for Bulgarian linguistics, but for the language studies as a whole.
