A generous donation by the Republic of Turkey Embassy and the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency provided the financial support for redecoration and equipment for the Department of Turkic Studies, Centre for Eastern Languages and Studies
H.E. Mehmet Gjuguk monitored the redecoration and the equipment: 15 new computers to facilitate the study of Turkish. Prof. Ivan Petkov, Vice-Rector, awarded the Ambassador with a donator charter and Sofia University placket. He stated that the warm relations and mutual understanding and knowledge abot the cultures is of benefit for both peoples. Mr. Gjuguk announced that the student and lecturer exchange, as well as the delivery of new books and periodicals would continue.
The event was attended by Mrs Gjuguk, Assoc. Prof. Petya Yaneva, Dean of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, representatives of the Republic of Turkey Embassy, students. The event ended by a performance of the dancing group Yeditepe Universitesi, Istanbul.
