The first meeting - discussion of lecturers in the field of Bulgarian Studies and Mrs Fandakova, Minister of Education, Youth, and Science took place in Sofia University on the opening Day of the new academic year.
Mrs Fandakova assured the lecturers that this meeting on the important topic of literacy would not be the last. "The spiritual crisis is by far more dangerous than the financial one" shared the Education Minister. She also pointed out that it was imperative to change the Bulgarian Language curricula towards more attractive and efficient education.
In turn, Assoc. Prof. Boyko Penev - Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Slavic Studies summarized the faculty lecturers' opinion that such chandes should take place, as well as ensure further professional development for the teachers, the format of the matriculation must be changed and it should be accepted as an admission test for the univesities.
These and other important issues will be discussed during the forthcoming meetings.
