This is the topic of the symposium opened by Mrs Mery McAleese, President of Ireland, in the Aula on 26th March. As she pointed out, as the first President of Ireland to visit Bulgaria she was welcomed warmly by the acedemic collegium.
Mrs McAleese is the eighth President of Ireland, and the second woman to hold the prestigious position. Born in Belfast, she started her career as a loyar, then she was a lecturer in law at Trinity College Dublin. She leads an active foreign policy and acts as "the prime ambassador of Ireland" as she sais about herself.
