The 20th National forum on Libraries and Information started under the coordination of the Department of Librarian Studies, Scientific Information and Cultural Policy with the Faculty of Philosophy and the Bulgarian Libraries and Information Association.
Specialists from around the country are discussing the near future of the profession of a librarian and the strategic decisions which the libraries should make in the process of transforming many of their traditional functions. Special attention was given to the changing demands of the readers. The event is attended by representatives of public, specialized scientific, university and school libraries.
The official opening was by prof. Ilchev, Rector, who noted that books contain a great deal of the truth about the world and expressed his admiration for the librarians and their work together with his regret about their low payment.
