Official session "Prof. Marco Minkoff: a world renowned researcher in the field of English Studies", dedicated to100th anniversary of Prof. Marco Minkoff's birth
The session was opened by Prof Ilchev, Rector of Sofia University, Assoc. Prof. Petya Yaneva, Dean of the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, and Prof. Maya Pencheva, Head of the Department of Englsih and American Studies.
Marco Mincoff (1909-1987) was Head of the Department of Englsih and American Studiesе between 1951 and 1974. English Rennaisance Drama was the main issue of his research; he was a member of the editorial board of a number of specialised journals such as Shakespeare Survey, Shakespeare Quarterly, Shakespeare Studies, etc. He was awarded the Honorary Degree Doctor Honoris Causa of the Shakespeare Institute at the University of Birmingham.
In the end of the session a memorial collection of selected papers by Prof. Minkoff was presented. The collection is number 7 of the "University Heritage" issues and is available in English only.
