About us:

The Hans Christian Andersen Center for Research and Information at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” functions as a supportive unit to the Scandinavian Studies Section, Department of German and Scandinavian Studies, Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology. It stimulates the interest in the personality and works of the outstanding Danish poet and writer Hans Christian Andersen, carries out scientific research, stimulated the teaching-learning process and spreads information in the field of Danish language, literature and culture.

 

The center has the following activity:

  • supports, organizes and carries out:
  • scientific research;
  • conferences, seminars, series of lections, workshops, presentations, discussions and meetings;
  • general and practical courses in Danish language, literature and culture;
  • maintains a specialized fund of books;
  • edits and releases scientific publications;
  • offers consultation work in the field of Danish language, literature and culture;
  • maintains a network with similar scientific and educational institutions in Bulgaria and abroad, and in cooperation with them takes part in the realization of national and international projects.

The main target groups of the center are:

  • the students, learning Danish language at the Scandinavian Studies Section and the Department of German and Scandinavian Studies, Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”;
  • pupils from elementary and secondary schools;
  • the general public in Bulgaria.
