Chief Assist. Prof. Desislava Kalcheva, PhD took part in CEE-Loc seminar (Local government studies in Central and Eastern Europe). The conference held place in Wroclaw, Poland in the period 21.09.2023 - 22.09.2023. Within the framework of the event, Chief Assist. Prof. Kalcheva presented a report on "The size of the size effect. The impact of splits of municipalities on the performance of local governments in Bulgaria, Croatia and Poland”.

The authors of the report are an international team of experts in the field of municipal finance - Dubravka Alibegović from the Institute of Economics, Zagreb, Desislava Kalcheva from Sofia University, Bulgaria, Julita Łukomska from the University of Warsaw, Poland and Pawel Swianiewicz from Wrocław University of Envt. and Life Sciences, Poland.

The idea of the conference was to gather a community of scholars from Central and Eastern Europe who are interested in local government studies, and to discuss research papers studying various dimensions of local governments operation, policies or politics in CEE region. Experts from all countries of Central and Eastern Europe took part in the conference, except for Armenia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Moldova and Serbia.

Participation in the conference was established and financed by the SUMMIT project.
