The Department of Early Modern and Modern History concentrates its research on a wide range of problems of the history of Europe, North America, Asia and Africa. In the last years there has been a reformulation of the interest of lecturers towards the area of Early Modern and Modern History of the Asian continent. The idea is to overcome the dominant Eurocentricity. Students take part in the research group on problems of Modern History and in the so-called "diplomatic club". The Department organized an international conference dedicated to the expiry of the 20th c. and the beginning of the new 21st c., and two conferences on the history of Russia and Europe in the 20th c.
