The curriculum includes Compulsory courses, Modules, Elective courses, and Assessed practice elements.

 

  • Compulsory courses: Introduction to Pedagogy, Theory of Education, Didactics, Pre-school Pedagogy, Primary School Pedagogy, Andragogy, Experimental Pedagogy, Docimology, Pedagogical Communication, Occupational Pedagogy, Methodology of Education , Family Education, Educational Sociology, History of Education and Pedagogical Doctrines, History of Education and Pedagogical Doctrines in Bulgaria, Administration of Education, General Psychology, Age Psychology, Information and Communication Technology in Education.

 

  • Modules: Methods of Teaching (Bulgarian Language and Literature in grades 1 to 4; Mathematics in grades 1 to 4, Bulgarian Geography, History and Culture in grades 1 to 4, the Philosophical Sciences); School Pedagogy; Pedagogic Counselling; Preventive and Corrective Pedagogy.

 

  • Elective Courses: Psychology of Personality, Social Psychology, Anatomy and Physiology, Esoteric Systems for the Spiritual Development of the Individual, Philosophy, Logic, Ethics, Aesthetics, Foreign Language, Sport.

 

  • Practice Elements: Summer Practice, Internship in Experimental Pedagogy, Internship in Schools, Internship in Specialized Children’s Institutions, Internship in Specialization, Pre-graduation Practice.

 

During their course of study students submit 2 course papers, in subjects and on topics of their own choice. They can join research teams, participate in conferences and seminars and get opportunities to publish in scholarly journals. Graduation follows upon taking a Written State Examination or defending a Final-Year Dissertation.

Students with an average grade of Very Good (4.50 and above) can continue their study in the MA programmes.
