Between May 27–30, 2025, the event “Planning Your Research Career” took place at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin), Ireland. The event focused on strategic planning and development of academic and research careers. Representatives of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” took part in the event, including: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Angelov – Vice-Dean responsible for MBA programs and executive education, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iya Petkova – faculty member at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Dr. Nikolay Yanev – R2 researcher at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski“, Dr. Olga Ignatova – R2 researcher, and Dr. Anna Kyosova – R1 researcher at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
The visit was part of the collaboration under the project TWIN4ECO – Twinning for Excellence: Stimulating the Sustainable Energy Economy and Promoting Research in the Field of Innovation Management in Bulgaria (No. BG-RRP-2.005-0001), funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
The event provided a platform for sharing best practices, career strategies, and methodological approaches to support both early-stage and established researchers. The program included lectures and hands-on sessions led by experts in academic development and career counseling. Key highlights included:
- Current Trends in Research Careers – presented by Gerolmina Di Nardo, Researcher Career Development Manager at TU Dublin;
- Motivation and Skills Assessment – a session led by Edel Kearney from the university’s Career Services;
- Personal Branding and Building a Researcher Profile;
- Creating an Individual Career Development Plan;
- Panel Discussion: “Where Can a Research Career Take You?” with contributions from Dr. Jesus Frias (Research Hub Lead), Dr. Gordon Cooke (Research Impact Lead), and Dr. Isabel Vega-Carascal (Director of Operations at Remedy Biologicals).
Participation in the event contributed to the development of strategic career-planning skills and expanded the international network of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration within the context of the TWIN4ECO project.
