In implementation of the work program of the TWIN4ECO project and in connection with the participation of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University in key initiatives for sustainable development, an opinion was developed in the format of a Policy Brief.
The Policy Brief discusses the opportunities for support, as well as the risks to the development of strategic energy technologies in conditions of underfunding in Bulgaria, leading technological areas, variables and challenges and the potential for accelerated growth.
In the final part of the Policy Brief, a Package of Policies for Accelerating Innovation in this area is proposed.

Within the framework of the TWIN4ECO project, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University is developing expert capacity for energy modeling and simulations of the energy system. Through the application of modern analytical tools, scenarios for the transition to a low-carbon economy are created, which support the formulation of policies consistent with national and European goals.
In parallel, the project works to map innovation efforts in the energy sector – tracking modernization processes, the introduction of new technologies and the degree of their implementation in practice. In this way, TWIN4ECO supports the building of a knowledge and data base that is critical for the effective management of the energy transition in Bulgaria.
