The forum, dedicated to the most topical issues in the field of economy and management, was attended by internationally-recognised scholars and researchers. Prof. Isabel Schnabel, member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank, Prof. Gilles Rouet from the University of Paris-Saclay in France, Prof. Fouad Zmokhol, from the Saint-Joseph University in Beirut, Victor Matchekhin, Deputy Dean for International Cooperation at the Tax, Audit and Business Analysis Department at the Financial University in the Russian Federation, Josep Ferеt Mas and Alexander Mihaylov are some of the renowned international scholars who shared the results from their latest studies within the framework of the research conference entitled ‘Ecological, social and management challenges for recovery and sustainability’.

Over the course of two days and at eleven specialised research sessions, the participants discussed the challenges and opportunities facing the good management of public enterprises, the most recent world and European trends in the field of taxation, the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the world economy, etc.

As part of the development priorities set for the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at ‘St. Kliment Ohridski’ Sofia University, a special meeting for PhD candidates and young scholars was organised. PhD candidates from Bulgaria, Albania, Lebanon, Japan, France, Germany and the UK presented the first results from scientific studies. Leading researchers offered valuable advice with regards to the methodology, the research synthesis and analysis, as well as the opportunity to publish in peer-reviewed science journals.

The research forum included a rich cultural programme, as well as a lively discussion on the correlation between art–markets–artificial intelligence. This created an opportunity to ensure the stability of the network of contacts and to create a suitable environment for generating ideas about cooperation and implementation of various research projects.

The international research conference ‘Ecological, social and management challenges for recovery and sustainability’ has significantly contributed towards the achievement of the targets set as part of the SCHOLARNET project, which are aimed at encouraging the integration of Bulgarian universities into the European Research Area.
