The workshop aimed to foster discussion and advance understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with artificial intelligence in contexts and scenarios that extend beyond research laboratories and specialist environments. Building on the successful themes of the ConsuWAIS project, the workshop invited participants to explore emerging trends related to AI and digital marketing practices, including manipulative marketing techniques.

The workshop opened with the keynote address “Toward AI Compliance: The Role of Performance Feedback”, delivered by Prof. Dr. John Dong (NTU).

To provide a deeper understanding of how algorithmic systems and personalised recommendations have created new business opportunities while simultaneously introducing risks related to consumers’ rights and well-being, members of the ConsuWAIS Lab presented the following research papers:

  • “A Taxonomy of AI-Enabled Tourism: Engineering the New Era of Responsible Systems Integration”
  • “Explainable AI: Enhancing User Satisfaction and Future Adoption”

A roundtable discussion on “Artificial Intelligence Systems Ethical and Responsible Expert Recommendations” addressed critical questions and explored emerging trends and potential solutions for developing advanced AI systems that safeguard consumer interests.
